Lucinda didn’t argue. She allowed him to carry her back to the car, and she settled into the back seat.
Exhausted from a busy morning with no rest, she soon drifted off to sleep in Nathan’s comforting arms.
Once Sonny took care of everything, Nathan had planned to go on the search for Dwayne alone. However, to his surprise, Lucinda woke up just as he was about to step out of the car.
He carried her in and headed straight to one specific room.
Sonny opened the door for them. The table was littered with bottles, and the overpowering scent of alcohol barely masked by air freshener filled the air.
Holding her nose, Lucinda did her best to stifle the nauseating feeling and entered.

“Get a bucket of ice water from the waiter. I’m going to wake him up!”

Nathan positioned himself on the nearby sofa, maintaining a serious demeanor and ensuring a safe distance from Dwayne to avoid getting splashed.

The freezing water drenched Dwayne, startling him awake as he shivered uncontrollably.
Groggily, he opened his eyes and flailed his arms in the air.
“Who dares to drench me! I will get you!”
Lucinda crossed her arms with her gaze devoid of any emotion, and replied coldly, “It’s me, Lucinda Simmons!”
Dwayne’s head still throbbed from his drunken escapade. He was far from sobering up completely.
He pointed an unsteady finger at the woman before him. With slurred speech, he queried, “Who the hell are you? Lucinda who? I don’t know any Lucinda!”
His words only ignited Lucinda’s fury further.
